BAPP BAPP (Bioanalysis, Proteomics, and Pharmacology) is a multidisciplinary TECNIO center specializing in research, development, and innovation activities in the fields of pharmacology, neuroscience, peptide chemistry, and bioanalysis, with a clear focus on the development of new drugs for human and veterinary use.
The vision of BAPP is to become a reference center in Catalonia and one of the best-specialized centers in Europe to support academic research, the pharmaceutical and food industry in the identification of new therapeutic targets for the treatment of rare diseases that cause intellectual disability, psychiatric illness, drug addiction, eating disorders, and infectious diseases in veterinary medicine
The BAPP is made up of two research groups from two institutions:
- The Integrated Pharmacology and Systems Neuroscience Research Group in (FINS) of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM), coordinated by Dr. Rafael de la Torre.
- The Proteomics and Protein Chemistry Research Group at Pompeu Fabra University (CEXS-UPF), coordinated by Dr. David Andreu.
IMIM is a Health Research Institute accredited by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. UPF is a university created in 1990 by the Generalitat de Catalunya, distinguished by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICIN) as a Campus of International Excellence and as a unit of excellence ‘María de Maeztu’ and has a prominent position in the international rankings as one of the leading Spanish universities.
BAPP is a TECNIO center, a brand of the Generalitat de Catalunya that identifies technology centers and university groups that are experts in applied research and technology transfer in Catalonia. TECNIO brings together the best Technology Centers and Research Centers of Catalan universities. The goal of the groups that are part of the TECNIO structure is to increase the transfer of technology from universities to industry.
