MissionThe Bio-Analysis research group, pertaining to the Pharmacology Research Unit of the IMIM, finds its main scientific objective in the research, and development of analytical protocols under strict quality control regulations that may facilitate the detection and enhance the understanding of the pharmacokinetic of drugs present in biological fluids. Priority areas include new pharmaceuticals under development, as well as drugs prone of being abused by individuals, also including sport related people. The research group is fully equipped to conduct studies on both high- and low molecular weight compounds through chemical methods (e.g. gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, different types of mass spectrometry (GC-MS, HPLC-MS, MS-MS) including access to MALDI-TOF and LC-Q-TOF MS) as well as biological methods (e.g. immuno-analysis, surface plasmon resonance, electrophoresis, iso-electric focussing). The Bio-Analysis research group further harbours the Analytical Service Laboratory that possesses all necessary Quality Assurance Accreditations required (ISO 17025, World Antidoping Agency WADA, Association of Racing Chemists AORC ...). The BioAnalysis research group pertaining to the Pharmacology Research Unit of the IMIM is part of a research group accredited by the Generalitat de Catalunya and entitled "BioAnàlisi i Proteòmica" to which also the Proteomics Research Group from the University Pompeu Fabra belongs to.
